Investment Manager Sarah Wiewel Digs Deep on Impact Investment Trends
Investment Manager Sarah Wiewel facilitated DFW Sustain and the DFW CFA Society’s Impact Investment panel on Sept. 5. As moderator, Wiewel navigated Jennifer Signori’s and Tucker Pribor’s conversations about incorporating impact investments into traditional asset allocations. Jennifer is Senior Vice President at Neuberger Berman on the Environmental, Social, Governance (ESG) and Impact Investing team. Tucker is Senior Associate and Head of Private Investments at Flat World Partners helping institutions and family offices conduct impact investing diligence.
Both panelists discussed insightful viewpoints that are not usually brought up when talking about impact investing. “Most people only discuss and focus on the returns associated with impact investing, and while that’s important, Tucker pointed out that is not the only factor to consider. Impact goals may play an important role in defining the client’s overall risk tolerance. Jennifer made a similar point about impact investing in municipal bonds. It is another metric to judge success and clarify expectations while taking on market-like risk and return,” says Sarah.
Sarah co-founded DFW Sustain, a networking group bringing together local investors interested in sustainable, responsible, and impact investing, over two years ago. Her organization holds quarterly events centered around educational topics, speakers, or panels. Past speakers have included John Streur from Calvert Investment Management and Jeff Cohen from the Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB).
At Tolleson Wealth Management, impact investing is an offering for families who have a desire to incorporate their social, environmental, religious, or charitable values into their investment portfolios. It’s another opportunity to customize portfolios to achieve a family’s long-term goals.
