Hill Country Flooding Relief Recommendations
On July 4, 2025, Central Texas experienced catastrophic flooding following days of relentless rainfall, with Kerr County among the hardest-hit areas. Rivers and creeks rose rapidly, sweeping away vehicles, damaging homes, and forcing widespread evacuations. Emergency responders, including local authorities, the National Guard, and volunteer organizations, have worked tirelessly to rescue stranded residents and search for the missing. The disaster has claimed numerous lives and displaced thousands. Relief organizations have been crucial in providing shelter, meals, and emotional support as recovery begins. If you are interested in assisting with the relief efforts, we have included a list of vetted organizations that are actively engaged in these efforts:
Kerr County Flood Relief Fund, managed by Community Foundation of the Texas Hill Country, is playing a vital role in supporting victims of the Texas floods by directing donations to vetted nonprofit organizations, first responder agencies and local governments actively involved in response, relief, and recovery efforts. The fund specifically aids communities of Hunt, Ingram, Kerrville, Center Point, and Comfort.
TEXSAR (Texas Search and Rescue) has been actively involved in the response to the Texas floods, affecting Kerr County and beyond. TEXSAR has deployed volunteers, swift water teams, boats, drone teams and K9s to work alongside local emergency services to locate and recover victims, provide support to survivors, and help assess damage in flooded communities in the aftermath of this devastating natural disaster.
The American Red Cross of Central & South Texas is providing critical support to flood victims by operating emergency shelters, offering food, water, and hygiene supplies, and helping reunite separated families. The organization has deployed mental health counselors and are offering financial and travel assistance to those severely impacted. Working closely with local agencies and the National Guard, the Red Cross is ensuring a coordinated response.
The Salvation Army Kerrville is actively responding to the devastating floods by deploying a mobile kitchen and emergency team to provide meals, drinks, and emotional and spiritual care to evacuees and first responders. The organization set up operations at a temporary reunification center in a Walmart parking lot, serving over 950 meals and 6,800 drinks in a single day. The team is also distributing blankets, clothing, towels, and preparing to deliver cleanup kits, food boxes, and hygiene trailers. Additional support units from San Antonio and other Texas cities are enroute to bolster relief efforts.
World Central Kitchen is actively responding to the catastrophic flooding in the Texas Hill Country by deploying its Relief Team to the region. The organization is working alongside local chefs and community leaders to provide freshly prepared, nutritious meals and water to affected communities, including stranded campers, evacuees from flooded RV parks, and first responders.
