Leadership and developing talent are key tenants of Tolleson Wealth Management’s values. Sharing those values with the community is just as important. When asked to partner with St. Philip’s School and Community Center on etiquette training to empower the fifth- and sixth-grade girls of “Girls Rites of Passage Program,” called G.U.I.D.E.S., employees saw an opportunity to share their passion for leadership development. Partnering with Chef Blythe Beck of South Dallas restaurant Pink Magnolia, Brand Coordinator Beatrice Kalish and Senior Philanthropy Advisor Courtney Joyner led an etiquette class over a delicious three-course meal. They covered topics such as table manners, conversation starters, and general networking tips. Beck also provided insight about her journey as an entrepreneur and successful chef.

“It is vital to instill the importance of etiquette to the next generation of female leaders at an early age, as well as reinforce the role their leadership is going to play in their communities once they have moved on from St. Philip’s,” said St. Philip’s Principal, Kellee Murrell. “We are thankful that Tolleson Wealth Management and Chef Beck at Pink Magnolia volunteered to host such an important event for our girls. It is something that we could tell was impactful.”

The G.U.I.D.E.S (God’s Undivided Intensions Direction Every Step) program supports girls in their journey to explore connections to their heritage, examine social and political constructs and oppression, assume responsibility to their family and community, and prepare for the transition to womanhood and their life after St. Phillip’s. “St. Philip’s plays such an important role in the Dallas community educating and empowering the next generation of female leaders, and we very much appreciate the opportunity to help teach these skills to this amazing group of young women,” said Joyner.

Tolleson Wealth Management recently selected St. Philip’s School & Community Center as its 2020 community partner to create an aligned philanthropic impact in the community. The firm will support the school and community center by providing donations, drives, sponsorship, and volunteer opportunities for employees. Tolleson Wealth Management is also the VIP Reception Sponsor for St. Philip’s School and Community Center’s upcoming Destiny Award Luncheon.
