Winter Storm Resources Following 2021’s Freezing Temperatures and Snow
Millions of Texans are without heat, power, and suitable housing in response to recent winter storms. With below-freezing temperatures and hazardous road conditions, many are in need of assistance and support as resources are stretched thin throughout the state.
In response to these needs throughout our community, our Philanthropy Services Team has curated a list of information to help those affected during this time.

- Family Gateway
- Welcoming families who are experiencing homelessness
- Austin Street center
- Looking for warm clothing donations
- The Bridge Homeless Recovery Center
- Requesting physical and monetary donations
- Genesis Women’s Shelter
- In desperate need of blankets, warm clothing items, flashlights, batteries meals and monetary donations after having to close the shelter for the first time in 35 years due to power outages.
- The Family Place
- In need of blankets, coats, food and monetary donations to help the 123 women & children who had to relocated after a pipe burst at their emergency shelter.
- Our Calling
- Needs monetary donations to support temporary shelter at Dallas Convention Center
- Austin Area Urban League
- Requesting donations for their #lovetheyneighbortx campaign to help provide food, water, and shelter this week.
- Austin Pets Alive
- In need of bottled water, cat food, and unleaded regular gas at their shelter
- Salvation Army North Texas
- Requesting monetary donations to help provide food, shelter, and heat to other organizations. They are also accepting new or gently used blankets, coats, hats, gloves, scarves, or hand warmers.
To ensure that your charitable dollars will be used wisely and effectively, we always recommend that donations are made to well-established, qualified charities with a proven track record. Too often, fraudulent organizations that seem like legitimate charities are set up to accept donations from well-meaning people in times of emergencies and disasters.
