Building stronger and safer communities is a philosophy that Tolleson Wealth Management cares about, especially when its employees can make a tangible impact. In April, eight employees from wealth management and private banking departments put together an all-women team to participate in the second year of Women Build Dallas and help raise the walls on a local Dallas home.

According to Dallas Area Habitat for Humanity, it “serves thousands of clients each year; 69% are women head of household and 41% of those women are single moms.” Knowing this, the organization began offering ‘Women Build’ events so that women could come together to serve in their communities and support the goal of providing other women financial independence through home ownership.

Assistant Vice President and Senior Private Banking Associate Aurora Ahrens shared her favorite part of Women Build Dallas: “One of the main things I enjoyed was learning about all the work that the individuals go through to get a home. They have to invest 300 of their own hours, simulations with credit to show they can pay bills, and go through financial literacy to qualify to even get their homes.”

When volunteers come out to help achieve their goals, it sends a positive and powerful message within the community especially within the tone of women supporting other women. It is a message that both Tolleson Wealth Management and Tolleson Private Bank are proud to stand behind.
