2022 Ukraine Crisis Giving Guide

The recent launch of the Russia-Ukraine war has resulted in a major humanitarian crisis, as many Ukrainians are displaced or have fled to neighboring countries for safety. If you are interested in helping the humanitarian crisis in Ukraine, we have included some suggestions below:

The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) is working with its partners to save and protect the lives of victims of armed conflict and violence. Teams in Ukraine will continue their work to repair vital infrastructure, support health facilities with medicines and equipment, and provide families with food and hygiene items.

International Medical Corps is responding to the conflict by expanding access to medical and mental health services for those living in affected communities while also working throughout the region to aid refugees. International Medical Corps stands ready to provide a wide range of humanitarian relief, working in partnership with local organizations that provide critical social services under increasingly difficult and dangerous conditions.

Jewish Federation of Greater Dallas, as part of The Jewish Federations of North America, has launched an emergency campaign to raise funds to support the Jewish community across Ukraine. The $20 million emergency campaign will provide humanitarian assistance to vulnerable Jewish populations living in Ukraine. Funds will be allocated through Jewish Federations’ core partners, The Jewish Agency for Israel, The Joint Distribution Committee and World ORT, and others who are on the ground in Ukraine, providing critical welfare and support to Ukraine’s Jewish community.

The Salvation Army is providing hope, healing, and comfort to displaced and affected families and individuals. Where it is safe to serve, The Salvation Army officers have established programs to provide food, clothes, blankets, and emotional and spiritual care to those who have been displaced from their homes and are seeking refuge.

Samaritan’s Purse has teams preparing to aid fleeing Ukrainians. It has deployed disaster response specialists to Poland, Romania, and Moldova, conducting rapid needs assessments in areas neighboring Ukraine to determine how to meet emergency needs. Samaritan’s Purse has also prepared an Emergency Field Hospital for overseas shipment if needed.

Save the Children is concerned for children caught in the middle of armed conflict, forced from their homes and exposed to injury, hunger, and cold. A donation to Save the Children’s Ukraine Crisis Relief Fund can help provide children and families with immediate aid, such as food, water, hygiene kits, psychosocial support, and cash assistance.

World Central Kitchen (WCK) is serving thousands of fresh meals to all impacted Ukrainian families. Working at a 24-hour pedestrian border crossing in southern Poland, WCK began serving hot, nourishing meals. Now, it is expanding its efforts to serve accommodation centers in Poland, Romania, Moldova, and other locations supporting refugees. WCK is also partnering with restaurants in Ukraine to provide meals for those in need.

When Making Donations

If you are interested in donating to one or more of these organizations through your donor-advised fund or private foundation, please let us know. If you decide to donate to an organization directly, we encourage you to give to one of these organizations or an organization you know. Make sure your donation is secure by donating through an organization’s official website or sending a check in the mail. GoFundMe sites or links through social media are discouraged because of scams exploiting this crisis. For all donations, please specify that the donation is to assist the people affected by the Ukraine crisis.
