Owen Smith

Owen Smith, CFP®, is Chief Operating Officer and Chief Technology Officer at Tolleson Wealth Management. He leads the firm’s operational strategy and supporting technology across its wealth, bank, and trust businesses.

He oversees the Reporting & Investment Operations, Client Operations, Family Reporting, and Partnership Administration teams, which manage portfolio transactions, bill pay, fund administration, and client reporting for the Wealth and Trust businesses.

He also leads the Information Technology, Business Analysis, and Business Applications teams, which support the firm’s infrastructure, applications, and business processes. Owen serves on the firm’s CEO Committee, IT Governance Committee, Risk Committee, Trust Committee, and Trust Investment Committee.

Owen began his career at Tolleson as one of its first summer interns and returned the following year as a full-time analyst on the Client Advisory Team. After advising families early in his career, he identified opportunities to improve processes and expand automation. Those efforts led him from client work into operational improvement and helped establish what became the Business Applications Team.

Owen earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance from the McCombs School of Business at the University of Texas and is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™. He lives in Dallas’s Lake Highlands neighborhood with his wife and three children and enjoys DIY home improvement projects and skiing.
