Owen Smith Named Chief Operating Officer
Owen Smith has been appointed Chief Operating Officer at Tolleson Wealth Management, a role he will hold alongside his current position as Chief Technology Officer. In this dual role, Owen will lead both the firm’s operations and its technology. A nearly 20-year veteran of the firm, he steps into the position with deep knowledge of Tolleson’s clients, operations, and technology, and a long record of improving how the firm works.
Owen began his career at Tolleson as one of the firm’s first summer interns and returned the following year as a full-time analyst on the Client Advisory Team. While advising families, he saw opportunities to improve processes and expand automation. That work moved him from client service into operational improvement and helped establish what became the firm’s Business Applications Team. His path reflects Tolleson’s commitment to developing talent from within.
As Chief Operating Officer and Chief Technology Officer, Owen leads the firm’s operational strategy and supporting technology across its wealth, bank, and trust businesses. He oversees the teams responsible for portfolio transactions, bill pay, fund administration, and client reporting, along with the firm’s information technology, business analysis, and business applications. His experience across these areas positions him to lead the firm’s operations while continuing to advance its technology platform.
Owen earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance from the McCombs School of Business at the University of Texas and is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™. He lives in Dallas with his wife and three children.
“Owen has spent nearly two decades building a deep understanding of our clients, our operations, and our technology,” comments CEO Carter Tolleson. “I look forward to the impact he’ll have as he guides how we operate while continuing to advance our technology.”
