On February 25, employees spent the day at Junior Achievement (JA) of Dallas’ Finance Park helping to teach 65 eighth grade students about building and maintaining personal budgets. The Finance Park program consists of an interactive, real-world simulation that shows students how to manage monthly expenses such as rent/mortgage, car payments, insurance, savings, entertainment, groceries and more!

Students are assigned a persona and a monthly income so they can learn how to pay for their needs and wants while staying within a budget. “One of my favorite parts from this opportunity was when students realized how expensive kids were to raise and how much that took from their monthly budget,” said Joyce Worthington, Vice President of Lobby Services at Tolleson Private Bank. “It was a great opportunity and I wished that I had something like JA Finance Park offered to me when I was young.” Through Finance Park, students learn how education, hard work and savings can create a successful financial future.
