Tolleson Wealth Management employees picked up power tools, hammers and hard hats while spending the day with Habitat for Humanity this past Saturday. Nearly 50 employees participated in a Build Day, where they worked together to frame and build a new home from the ground up for Larrecia Evans, the new homeowner.

“The rental market keeps going up, and I’m not sure I would be able to afford rent each year,” said Evans. “Owning will give me joy and a sense of satisfaction—it means a lot to me.” Evans was selected by Habitat for Humanity to receive a new house from the Build Day program.

Two shifts of employees worked at the site, bringing family members as well. Tolleson Wealth Management’s commitment to serving in the community is shown through strategic partners such as Habitat for Humanity. “It’s a good day when you put in more nails than you take out,” said a Habitat for Humanity staffer that was onsite.

Client Advisory Team Managing Directors Dotti Reeder and Royce Ramey reflected on this day of comradery and fellowship. “It was great to see my colleagues, who collaborate so effectively on a daily basis on behalf of our clients, have such fun applying the same concepts to helping Evans build her new home,” said Reeder. “There was a lot of good-natured ribbing about construction skills – or lack thereof – but, mostly, I saw the servant’s hearts of each and every one of our employees shine.”

“It was an incredibly rewarding experience to help a family build their first home, and to do it with all our team here at Tolleson made it even more special. I couldn’t dream of working with a more talented and driven group of people!” said Ramey.
