Tolleson Private Bank employees had the opportunity to work with high school students during summer break to teach valuable life lessons about budgeting, saving and credit. The classes focused on learning financial independence, taking place in June and July during summer camp.

Employees gave students real-life examples on how to create a budget, what a savings account is and how it works, explanations on interest, credit and risk versus reward. Nine employees helped with the courses taught to around 30 students attending camp at the center. “When we talked about savings accounts, the students were really interested in understanding compound interest. They wanted to know how old they had to be to open a savings account as well. There was good back-and-forth discussion there,” said Alta Mantsch, Senior Vice President, Regulatory Compliance Officer (pictured left).
